With its “Celebration Lyceum,” the Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre is giving its patrons yet another opportunity to
enjoy live theater and learn about the performers who make it happen.
The celebration, which begins at 10 p.m. June 30 following the regular production of “The Adventures of Tom
Sawyer,” will include a champagne reception and a cabaret performance on the Lyceum Stage.
Quin Gresham, Lyceum Artistic Director, explained that the celebration takes the place of the galas hosted in previous
years.
“We wanted to do something with an informal, fun atmosphere,” he said.
During the reception, patrons will be able to speak with cast members from both “Tom Sawyer,” which is
currently playing, and the up-coming “Sugar,” which began rehearsals this week.
“We are thrilled and honored to have such a talented group of actors,” Gresham said. “This celebration will give
our patrons a chance to learn more about them and how they do the things they do.”
Following the reception, a 45-minute cabaret show will give the actors the opportunity to perform songs not
included in the 2007 season line up. Gresham said the actors were given free reign to choose their songs, selecting the
pieces they feel are their best.
“We'll see a wide variety of songs which play to the strengths of the performers,” he said.
Tickets for the celebration are $10 and can be purchased in advanced by contacting the Lyceum box office at
660-837-3311 or can be purchased at the theater the night of the event.
In addition to the celebration, the Lyceum is planning a series of four wine tastings co-hosted by Les Bourgeois
Winery.
“The wine tastings are a way for us to extend the 'theater experience' and give people a chance to do one more
thing that they might not have the time or opportunity to otherwise do,” said Jessica Clements, Lyceum marketing
director.
Wines offered at the wine tastings are to Les Bourgeois’s discretion, but will feature the winery's Jeunette
Rouge, Solay and Pink Fox. Lyceum patrons over 21 years of age are encouraged to partake in the wine tastings
which will take place at the June 27 matinée performance of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” the July 14 evening
performance of “The Sunshine Boys,” the Aug. 17 evening production of “Misery” and the Sept. 26 matinée
performance of “Children of a Lesser God.”
